Ich nutze Wasserlinsen als Anzeiger für überschüssige Nährstoffe (Nitrat und Ammoniak = Dünger in der Landwirtschaft).
Die Wasserlinse nimmt die Nährstoffe auf, welche die im Sand eingepflanzten Planzen nicht verarbeiten. Somit macht die Wasserlinse das Wasser sauber und gesund für Fische.
Wasserlinsen wandeln die Nährstoffe in Wachstum um (wie alle Pflanzen.). Mit dem regelmässigen Entnehmen von Duckweed hilft man einerseits den Pflanzen im Aquarium, weil sie wieder mehr Licht bekommen, andererseits entfernt man somit die in den Pflanzen gefangenen Nährstoffe.
Algen sind auch Pflanzen und ernähren sich von den Nährstoffen. Somit schützt Duckweed vor Algenwachstum.
Speziell bei neu eingerichteten Aquarien ist das wichtig. Aber auch bei bestehenden Aquarien, bei welchen man regelmässig Pflanzen entnimmt.
Die Anzahl Duckweed erhöht sich, wenn es viele Nährstoffe im Aquarium hat. Umgekehrt verringert sich die Anzahl auch, wenn die Pflanzen alle Nährstoffe aufnehmen und nichts oder nur wenig für Duckweed übrig bleibt.
Jeder Aquarianer sollte Duckweed in seine Aquarien tun.
PS: Die Leute, welche sich über eine Duckweed Plage beschweren, kennen die Nützlichkeit von Duckweed nicht.

I use duckweed as an indicator of excess nutrients (nitrate and ammonia = fertilizer in agriculture).
Duckweed absorbs the nutrients that the plants planted in the sand do not process. Duckweed makes the water clean and healthy for fish.
Duckweed converts nutrients into growth (like all plants.). By regularly removing duckweed, you can on the one hand help sensitive plants in the aquarium because they get more light again, and on the other hand you can remove the nutrients trapped in the plants.
Algae are also plants and feed on the nutrients. Duckweed therefore protects against algae growth.
This is particularly important for newly set up aquariums. But also in existing aquariums from which plants are removed regularly.
The number of duckweed increases when it has a lot of nutrients in the aquarium. Conversely, the number also decreases when the plants absorb all the nutrients and little or nothing is left for duckweed.
Every aquarist should add duckweed to their aquariums.
PS: The people who complain about duckweed infestation don’t know the usefulness of duckweed.
